Join the Summer Lecture Series Featuring Gene Andrew Jarrett
Experience a literary journey at The Mount Edith Wharton's Home's summer lecture series, featuring Gene Andrew Jarrett's masterfully crafted biography - the first comprehensive portrayal of the poet's life in the last fifty years. Jarrett's work peels back the layers of Dunbar's public persona as the celebrated "poet laureate of his race," revealing the private trials of a man who, mirroring his renowned poem, lived like a 'caged bird' that sings. Profoundly detailed and generously illustrated, Jarrett's biography presents Dunbar's most in-depth and intimate portrait, promising to revolutionize our understanding of this influential figure in American literary history.
